What we build to
We build toward the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, level AA. In practice, this means:
- Images that carry information have text descriptions.
- Pages are built to work with a keyboard alone.
- Headings are in order.
- Colors are chosen to meet contrast requirements. Navy on white and white on navy both pass, and accessible red variants are used for controls and smaller text.
- Text can be resized to 200 percent without breaking the layout.
- Forms have labels.
- Maps have written directions beside them.
